Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met with World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Hanan Balkhy to explore avenues for deepening cooperation between Egypt and the organisation, the Egyptian Cabinet reported. Madbouly highlighted Egypt's ongoing healthcare efforts, particularly the implementation of the Universal Health Insurance System and presidential initiatives such as Decent Life and 100 Million Healthy Lives, as well as the country's success in eliminating hepatitis C—achievements that have garnered international praise. Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar pointed to the daily coordination with WHO and noted WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus's appreciation for Egypt's collaboration with the organisation. For her part, Balkhy expressed interest in working with Egypt on advancing the pharmaceutical sector and congratulated the country on recently achieving WHO's "Maturity Level 3" for its national drug regulatory authority. She also outlined several health programmes and initiatives that could serve as platforms for future cooperation and noted the significance of her meetings during her current visit to Cairo.
