Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met with the Executive Director of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) Nardos Bekele-Thomas at the 4th United Nations Conference on Financing for Development in Seville, Spain, a Cabinet report said. Madbouly affirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting NEPAD's development agenda during the remainder of its AUDA-NEPAD presidency. He stressed the country's dedication to enhancing cooperation with African partners to promote sustainable development and mobilise the necessary financing. Bekele-Thomas reviewed AUDA-NEPAD's efforts to mobilise resources and implement development programmes across the continent. She also noted the agency's plans to launch a dedicated development fund and expressed interest in leveraging Egypt's technical expertise to advance NEPAD's work. Moreover, she highlighted progress on establishing a Centre of Excellence for Climate and Disaster Resilience and outlined upcoming activities planned by the NEPAD Secretariat, as stated in the release. Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat noted that coordination is underway with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NEPAD to organise events and initiatives that will support the agency's strategic goals. Madbouly expressed Egypt's full support for launching the Centre of Excellence on Climate Change, emphasising the country's readiness to assist in ensuring its operational start in the near future.
