Egypt's Cairo University announced the official commercial licensing of "EZVent", the first critical care ventilator that was fully designed, developed, and manufactured in Egypt. The device was produced in collaboration with Ezz Medical Industries and meets international standards for performance and safety. Developed through a wholly Egyptian scientific, engineering, and medical effort, EZVent represents a major step towards domestic self-sufficiency in vital medical equipment. The Cairo University Faculty of Medicine developed the prototype and carried out clinical trials at its Continuing Medical Education Centre and intensive care unit. The trials showed the ventilator performed effectively with no side effects or physiological changes in patients, confirming its readiness for use in critical care settings. This achievement marks a significant milestone in linking research with industry, transforming academic innovation into a practical solution. It also strengthens Egypt's health system resilience, particularly during emergencies and crises. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
