Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat held talks with senior Huawei Digital Power officials on Sunday, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Conference on Renewable Energy, Clean Energy Solutions, and Energy Transition. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in smart energy solutions, grid modernisation, and battery energy storage technologies. The visit included a tour of Huawei's operational areas, where the minister was briefed on the company's technology in solar station control systems, data centres, and advanced battery storage solutions. Esmat met with Huawei's Chairman and Vice President for the Energy Sector, alongside senior executives, to discuss plans for joint investment, localising complementary industries, and transferring parts of Huawei's service operations to Egypt. The discussions focused on aligning Huawei's technological offerings with Egypt's national energy strategy, which prioritises the integration of renewable energy and digital transformation in the electricity sector. Esmat highlighted Egypt's efforts to reduce energy loss, improve efficiency, and use renewable energy to power remote areas disconnected from the national grid. He noted Egypt's openness to strategic partnerships that enhance infrastructure, smart grid solutions, and renewable energy storage, positioning the country as a regional hub. Esmat reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment, citing recent infrastructure and legislative reforms that support private sector involvement in the energy transition.
