Egypt explores deeper African economic ties at US-Africa Summit

Egypt's Minister of Public Enterprises Sector Mohamed Shimi held a series of high-level bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 17th US-Africa Business Summit, held in Luanda, Angola, from June 22 to 25.
Shimi met with Angolan Vice President Esperança da Costa, where both sides stressed the strength of historical ties and discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in priority sectors. The talks also underscored the summit's importance as a platform for public-private dialogue to accelerate Africa's development, particularly as Angola chairs the African Union this year and marks 50 years of independence.
The minister also met with several counterparts, including Angola's Minister of Industry and Trade, Congo's Minister of Trade, Morocco's Minister of Investment, and Algeria's Minister of Energy. Discussions focused on boosting cooperation in investment, joint manufacturing, and trade exchange to deepen regional economic integration and support the continent's sustainable development goals.
Shimi affirmed Egypt's strong interest in building regional partnerships with African nations based on mutual benefit, noting that his ministry is working to expand cooperation in key production sectors across the continent.
