Egyptian Customs Authority Head Ahmed Amawi visited Alexandria and Dekheila ports to oversee operations and interact with customs officers, as per an official statement on Sunday. He said that, together, they would achieve their targets and that customs clearance time would be reduced to just two days by the end of 2025, which would help lower production costs. This visit is in line with Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk's directives to enhance oversight and modernise the customs system, including simplifying procedures to strengthen the partnership with the business community. Amawi emphasised the need for coordinated efforts, faster on-site work, automated customs processes, and integrated databases. He also confirmed the authority's dedication to streamlining procedures to boost trade and investment. During the tour, Amawi reviewed operations at the Tahya Misr Terminal in Alexandria, the logistics centre at Dekheila port, the joint inspection building, and the hazardous goods depot, praising the noticeable progress. He highlighted that customs operations are evolving with clear plans and active field engagement to provide more efficient services that support supply chains, attract investment, and contribute to national growth targets.
