Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Monday inaugurated the Xin Xing Chinese ductile iron pipe factory in Sokhna Industrial Zone, part of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), as per a Cabinet statement. The $150 million plant, developed by TEDA-Egypt, spans 270,500 square metres and has an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons. Madbouly said the factory will help reduce Egypt's import bill for ductile iron pipes, which are widely used in national infrastructure, utilities, and housing projects. He added that the project supports the localisation of a strategic industry, with plans to serve both domestic and regional markets. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's support for SCZone's efforts to attract investment in targeted industrial and logistics sectors and to boost exports. He also stressed the importance of accelerating upgrades at ports and industrial zones to position the region as a key logistics hub in global supply chains.
