Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) Chairman Ahmed El Sobky held a meeting with the World Health Organisation's representative in Egypt Ne'ma Saeed Abid to explore ways of strengthening cooperation in developing the country's healthcare system. El Sobky said the collaboration is structured around six core axes, including joint scientific research, the establishment of a WHO-certified emergency medical team, and the creation of a "Collaboration Center" focused on clinical governance and infection control — all aimed at significantly raising healthcare quality and safety standards. He announced the upcoming pilot launch of Egypt's first national AI-powered remote diagnostics platform, which will rely on WHO-approved treatment protocols. "This marks a breakthrough in our digital healthcare transformation, enhancing both response times and diagnostic accuracy," he said. El Sobky also highlighted Egypt's pioneering adoption of global health classification systems ICD-11 and ICHI, becoming the first health authority in the Middle East to implement both. "This enables more effective disease surveillance and data analysis, supporting evidence-based policy-making," he added. He reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to its strategic partnership with the WHO, calling it a regional model for integrating national and international efforts to improve health systems. Abid welcomed the expanding partnership and expressed the WHO's readiness to support efforts in capacity building, emergency preparedness, mental health services, and digital transformation.
