Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat held a meeting on Tuesday with Japan's Ambassador to Egypt Oka Hiroshi to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of information and communications technology (ICT), with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and entrepreneurship, as per a Cabinet statement. The meeting highlighted ongoing collaboration between Egypt and Japan, particularly in digital capacity building. Talaat stressed the ministry's commitment to strengthening Egypt's ICT sector by expanding digital skills training, developing qualified talent in modern technologies, and investing in digital infrastructure. He noted that Egypt is becoming an attractive hub for outsourcing services due to its skilled workforce, presenting opportunities to help address Japan's digital skills gap. The minister also highlighted strategic national projects focused on adopting advanced technologies across key sectors, aiming to support Egypt's digital transformation. Ambassador Hiroshi expressed interest in transferring Japan's applied education experience and supporting Japanese companies operating in Egypt's ICT sector. He also welcomed the participation of Egypt's communications ministry in the upcoming SushiTECH TOKYO exhibition this May, underlining Japan's support for startups and small businesses.
