Egypt and France signed four healthcare cooperation agreements on the sidelines of French President Emmanuel Macron's official visit to Egypt, reinforcing long-standing bilateral ties and expanding collaboration in vaccine awareness, digital health solutions, rare disease care, and cancer treatment. According to a Cabinet statement, three protocols were signed between Egypt's Ministry of Health and pharmaceutical giant Sanofi. The first protocol aims to raise public awareness about the importance of vaccines. It includes training workshops for doctors on vaccine economics and disease prevention, with a focus on underserved areas. The second protocol targets diabetes care and includes nationwide awareness campaigns, educational content for children, and training for nurses as community health educators. The agreement also covers the creation of a digital platform for remote patient monitoring and a study assessing the carbon footprint of digital health solutions. The third agreement focuses on rare diseases. It seeks to increase public awareness and reduce the prevalence of genetic disorders through nationwide campaigns, field training for healthcare professionals, and Ministry-led educational events. Moreover, an additional agreement, signed with the Gustave Roussy Institute, will support the development of a specialised cancer treatment centre in Cairo.
