Egypt convenes strategic meeting to boost investment, trade with Gabon
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 12 - 03 - 2025

The Permanent Committee for Monitoring Egyptian-African Relations held its periodic meeting in Cairo on Tuesday to explore concrete investment and cooperation opportunities between Egypt and Gabon. The meeting brought together representatives from key ministries, national entities, and the private sector to discuss expanding economic cooperation with Gabon.
Representatives from Egypt's private sector took part in the meeting to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Egypt and Gabon and explore new opportunities for joint investment, benefiting both nations.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting builds on a series of high-level diplomatic exchanges, including the Gabonese transitional president's visit to Egypt in November 2024, which resulted in several key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). Further momentum was generated by the Egyptian Foreign Minister's subsequent visit to Gabon in December 2024, accompanied by a business delegation focused on identifying investment prospects.
The discussions centered on significant investment opportunities in Gabon, particularly in critical sectors such as housing, infrastructure, energy, transportation, and healthcare. Participants also explored viable financing mechanisms to support Egyptian private sector involvement in these projects.
Recognising the importance of sustainable development, the meeting highlighted Egypt's commitment to capacity-building and knowledge transfer through programmes organised by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD). These initiatives aim to enhance expertise and foster long-term growth in Gabon.
A key element of the meeting was the strong participation of Egyptian private sector representatives, underscoring Egypt's commitment to a public-private partnership approach. This collaborative strategy is designed to boost trade, attract investment, and drive mutually beneficial economic growth.
The latest meeting demonstrates Egypt's ongoing commitment to strengthening its African partnerships, promoting regional development, and fostering deeper economic integration.
