Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty met Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa in Cairo on Monday. They discussed preparations for the Arab Summit on March 4, focusing on Gaza reconstruction without evacuating the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. They also reviewed efforts to uphold the ceasefire and reaffirmed the Arab stance on the Palestinian cause. The ministers examined plans for a reconstruction conference that Egypt will host in cooperation with the United Nations. They expressed hope for international support for early recovery and rebuilding efforts. They stressed the need to uphold Palestinian rights, ensure their presence on their land, and establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
