Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi on Wednesday in UAE, to discuss strengthening economic relations between the two countries. Minister El-Khatib highlighted the strategic partnership between Egypt and the UAE, emphasising the importance of increasing trade exchange to reflect the strong ties between their governments and peoples. He noted that bilateral trade reached approximately 5.5 billion dollars last year, with key traded goods including agricultural products, iron and steel, cables, machinery, and equipment. He added that both governments are working to achieve industrial, investment, and trade integration to secure supply chains, achieve self-sufficiency, localise industries, and enhance value chain integration. These efforts aim to create more job opportunities, meet local market demands, and expand exports to international markets. The minister also stressed Egypt's commitment to facilitating current and future Emirati investments, encouraging investors to leverage the country's competitive advantages, such as skilled labour, qualified engineers, competitive energy prices, and trade agreements that provide access to global markets. Minister Al Zeyoudi, on his part, reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt across various sectors and emphasised the importance of translating joint efforts into tangible economic cooperation projects that benefit both economies.
