Petrobel targets 144k bpd of oil as Zohr field development moves forward
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 25 - 02 - 2025

Belayim Petroleum (Petrobel) aims to produce 144,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the 2025/2026 fiscal year, including 434 million cubic feet of gas, 58,000 barrels of crude oil, 4,730 barrels of condensates, and 130 tons of LPG (butane) per day.
To achieve this, Petrobel, in partnership with Eni, Arqueos, Mubadala (UAE), and Rosneft (Russia), is developing three wells—Zohr-13, Zohr-6, and Zohr-9—using coiled tubing technology, marking its first application in deepwater operations worldwide.
Moreover, Petrobel Chairman Khaled Mowafy confirmed that $320 million has been allocated for operations, including $122 million for well maintenance and platform upkeep. In addition, he reported 5.5 million safe working hours, underlining the company's commitment to safety and efficiency.
Similarly, Francesco Gasparri, Eni's Egypt Director, emphasised Petrobel's intensified drilling efforts in Abu Madi, where six rigs are currently deployed. Furthermore, he highlighted the role of modern reservoir studies in optimising production and ensuring sustainable long-term output.
It's worth noting that Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced previously the resumption of drilling at the Zohr Gas Field. The Saipem 10000 drilling rig arrived in Egyptian waters in late January, with drilling for the first well in the new development phase starting in mid-February.
