Trade between Egypt and Zambia declined to $96 million in 2024, down from $183 million in 2023, according to data from Egypt's official statistics agency, CAPMAS on Monday. Egyptian Exports to Zambia Egypt's exports to Zambia nearly doubled, reaching $32 million in 2024 compared to $18 million in 2023. Leading exports included: * Pharmaceutical products – $14.7 million * Processed food products – $4.4 million * Sugar and confectionery – $3.3 million * Plastics and related products – $2.9 million Egypt's Imports from Zambia Egyptian imports from Zambia witnessed a sharp drop, falling to $64 million in 2024 from $165 million in 2023. Copper and its products dominated Egypt's imports, accounting for $62 million. Investment and Remittances Egyptian remittances from Zambia rose to $5 million in the 2023/2024 fiscal year, up from $3.9 million in 2022/2023. Meanwhile, Zambian remittances from Egypt declined to $1.2 million, down from $1.5 million. Zambian investments in Egypt surged to $327,000 in 2023/2024, a sharp rise from $54,000. Conversely, Egyptian investments in Zambia dropped significantly to $311,000, compared to $4.9 million in the previous year. As part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is meeting with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema to discuss economic cooperation and regional developments.
