Egypt's government is reviewing a series of measures to improve customs procedures as part of efforts to facilitate trade and strengthen partnerships with local and foreign businesses. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly discussed the proposals during a meeting on Wednesday, stressing that streamlining customs aligns with the government's financial policies to support economic growth. Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk explained that the measures include facilitating duty payments, optimising the pre-clearance system, activating advance inquiry services, and publishing a customs guide for imports and exports. Moreover, these measures also involve consolidating customs circulars and improving communication with stakeholders. Furthermore, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib highlighted additional steps to reduce clearance times, including extended working hours for customs-related entities throughout the week. He stated these efforts have enhanced supply chain efficiency and reduced cargo congestion at ports. After the meeting, PM Madbouly directed officials to finalise the agreed-upon measures as soon as possible in preparation for their official announcement.
