Egypt aims to strengthen economic and development ties with Seychelles, focusing on trade, investment, infrastructure, and capacity building, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said during a meeting with his Seychellois counterpart Sylvestre Radegonde. The meeting, taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, addressed expanding economic cooperation, particularly through the Export and Investment Guarantee Mechanism for Africa. Minister Abdelatty underscored Egypt's commitment to encouraging Egyptian companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to invest in Seychelles, particularly in pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, and engineering industries. He also highlighted Egypt's role in capacity building, with the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) providing training programs to support Seychelles' development efforts. The ministers stressed the importance of enhancing coordination within the African Union to advance regional integration and mutual interests. They also agreed to exchange support for nominations in international fora, reinforcing bilateral cooperation within African Union institutions and other global organisations.
