Egypt's Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, held talks with three South African ministers: Parks Franklyn Tau, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition; Enoch Godongwana, Minister of Finance; and David Ramokgopa, Minister of Electricity and Energy, to enhance bilateral co-operation. Discussions centred on Egypt and South Africa's pivotal roles in Africa, addressing development challenges and the impact of economic crises since 2020. Al-Mashat highlighted the importance of South Africa's upcoming G20 presidency, emphasising global development acceleration and increased focus on Africa. Al-Mashat highlighted the significance of South-South collaboration, Egypt's membership in BRICS, and the New Development Bank. She stressed the need for African nations to unify efforts in reforming the global financial system, promoting integration, and advancing development goals, particularly ahead of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in Spain later this year.
