The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed its commitment to assisting the Bangladeshi interim government in implementing crucial structural reforms, according to Xinhua on Monday. A senior ADB delegation, led by South Asia Director General Takeo Konishi, met with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus in Dhaka on Sunday to discuss the bank's support for the crisis-ridden South Asian economy. Konishi emphasised ADB's long-standing involvement in Bangladesh and its willingness to assist the interim government in initiating vital structural reforms. Yunus informed the ADB delegation of the urgent need for action, stating that the country was facing a "ground-zero situation" and requiring swift implementation of reforms. As part of his efforts to reform Bangladesh, Yunus announced on Wednesday the formation of six commissions to address the judiciary, election system, administration, police, anti-corruption commission, and the constitution.
