Italy's trade balance recorded a surplus of €6.74 billion in July 2024, with €642 million from EU countries and €6.1 billion from non-EU countries. This surplus reflects a year-over-year increase in exports (6.8 per cent) and imports (6.3 per cent). However, seasonally adjusted data show a slight decline in exports by 0.5 per cent and an increase in imports by 1.1 per cent compared to June 2024. Over the past quarter, exports fell by 2.8 per cent and imports decreased by 0.5 per cent. Import prices rose by 0.5 per cent from the previous month and 1.3 per cent from July 2023, with notable increases in the non-euro zone. Excluding energy, the trade surplus expanded to €11.54 billion, highlighting strong trade performance despite mixed monthly trends.
