Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports experienced a robust 23.4 per cent year-on-year growth in the first seven months of 2024, reaching a value of over $3.8 billion. This positive trend continued into July, with exports hitting $477 million, marking an 18 per cent growth compared to the same period in 2023. The surge in exports can be attributed to strong demand in international markets, driven by increased shipments of durian, dragon fruit, and bananas. In the first half of 2024, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to China reached $2.16 billion, a 22 per cent increase from 2023, making China the largest market, representing 64.9 per cent of total exports. South Korea and the US followed as the second and third largest markets, respectively, with export values of $164 million and $157 million, respectively. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association anticipates continued favourable export conditions for the remainder of the year due to abundant harvests and sustained global demand. The industry is optimistic about achieving an export value of $7 billion for the entire year, surpassing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's target by $1 billion.
