Tunisia's budget deficit increased by 10 percent of Gross Domestic Product, to record the levels 11 billion Tunisian dinars ($3.54 billion) in 2022, according to Ministry of Finance's data showed on Wednesday. Tunisian trade deficit decreased by about 7 percent during the first two months of this year, to record 2.36 billion dinars, compared to 2.55 billion dinars in the same period of 2022. Tunisia's exports rose by 11.6 percent in January and February to 10 billion dinars from approximately 9 billion dinars during the first two months of last year, according to a statement issued days ago by the National Institute of Statistics. Tunisia aims to reduce the deficit to 5.5 percent in 2023, driven by austerity measures that could pave the way for a loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
