Egypt's SCA, Maersk International sign a $500 million deal to develop SCCT

Egypt's Suez Canal Authority (SCA) announced and Maersk International Group have signed a $500 million deal to develop the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) in East Port Said, according to authority's statement on Thursday.
SCA's statement declared that the development will include operating a new container berth with a length of 1,000 meters adjacent to the existing berth of 500 meters in length.
Maersk will increase the cranes' number to 30 cranes that powered with electricity instead of diesel, in order to reduce the station's emissions and transform it into a green station by the end of 2030.
The plan also includes transferring the SCCT into a smart terminal operated by the latest smart systems and advanced communications for container handling.
Moreover, SCA has signed a bilateral agreement with the Maersk Group for cooperation in several fields, during the authority's head Osama Rabie's visit to Maersk.
