Egypt makes COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for all those aged over 18 in education sector

Egypt will be making COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for students, staff, employees, and workers aged 18 or above who are involved in pre-university or university sectors in Egypt, the cabinet said on Saturday.
Last week, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced a plan to vaccinate teachers, teaching staff, workers, employees, and students at public and private universities and institutes before the beginning of the academic year.
The plan also includes school students who are above 18 years old as well as school staff and workers in public, private, and international schools, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad has told local TV channel.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly will issue a decree related to those in the educational sector who refuse to vaccinate, Saad added.
Egypt had also applied the mandatory coronavirus vaccination order to those working in the tourism sector in the Red Sea and South Sinai resort cities, Saad said. This has had positive impact on encouraging the return of foreign tourism to the North African country.
Last week, presidential adviser for health Awad Tag El-Din announced that vaccination would be mandatory in all governmental institutions in the country soon.
Soon, even some private institutions will not deal with unvaccinated people, Tag El-Din added at the time.
