Coptic activists on Monday said they were against forming a Christian party, adding that they would rather join civil parties that are already formed or still under establishment. Meanwhile, members of the Union of Revolutionary Youth helped the armed forces rebuild the Two Martyrs Church in the village of Atfeeh, which was recently destroyed in sectarian violence. They also met on Monday with Coptic and Muslim leaders of the village to launch a campaign against illiteracy for the residents, who welcomed the idea. Union President Omar Hamed called for bringing the remnants of the former regime to trial “for attempting to tarnish the image of the revolution.” In related news, other Coptic activists said the army on Monday at 5AM forced the Copts who were staging a sit-in before the Radio and Television building in Cairo to end their protest.
