The heads of Egyptian premiere league clubs have agreed to earmark 25 percent of players' contracts for the dead and injured victims of the 25 January uprising that brought down former President Hosni Mubarak's regime. The decision was made during a meeting at the Egyptian Football Association's headquarters on Sunday. Football players and coaches have been under fire for not adopting a supportive stance toward the revolution. Some even took part in pro-Mubarak protests, such as Egypt's national team coach, Hassan Shehata, Zamalek's coach Hossam Hassan, and his twin Ibrahim. Egypt's goalkeeper Essam al-Hadary had stated he hoped for an honorable exit for the Egyptian president. The Egyptian football league had been suspended for more than one month due to the instability caused by the nationwide protests.
