Members from the Tahrir Revolutionary Front front will meet with Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq on Sunday and ask him to resign, said its general coordinator, Rami Ghanem. Ghanem said this is one of the most important demands of the 25 January revolution. Ghanem added that the front will present the same demands it submitted earlier to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to the Cabinet of Ministers. The front demands a timeframe for implementing the demands of the Egyptian people and dismissing Shafiq's government. It wants to keep Article 2 of the Constitution--which states that the Islamic Law is the main source of legislation--intact, limit presidential terms to four years and make them renewable only once, and implement the principle of separation of powers. Ghanem added that they also demand dismantling the National Democratic Party, returning its possessions to the state and banning its current members from politics for five years. They want parliamentary elections to be held every four years, with MPs able to renew membership only once. The front will also demand the amendment of the law organizing the establishment of political parties and push for the free establishment of NGOs, syndicates, newspapers and satellite channels. They demand the abolishment of exceptional tribunals. They want national identity cards to be used for voting, expatriate Egyptians to vote at Egypt's embassies, and the judiciary to supervise the electoral process to guarantee its complete independence.
