President Hosni Mubarak has recently agreed with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa to build a joint pipeline through which Qatar might export natural gas to Egypt, Trade Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid said on Tuesday. The proposed pipeline, the minister added, would also allow Qatar--the world's second largest producer of natural gas--to re-export liquid natural gas to Europe via Egyptian seaports. According to an Egyptian Petroleum Ministry official, however, the ministry has not yet officially been requested to conduct a feasibility study for the project. Translated from the Arabic Edition.
