Workers from Amonsito textile company continued their sit-in strike for the 19th day in front of the Shura Council making this the third week they have performed Friday prayers on Qasr el-Aini Street in downtown Cairo. Parliament failed to reach an agreement yesterday regarding compensation for the workers, despite a recommendation from the Parliamentary Manpower Committee led by Hussein Megawer, that the company be liquidated and the workers compensated. The workers presented their demands to Parliament and will discuss the details with Misr Bank on Sunday; however, if their demands are not met, they have threatened to shave their heads and move the sit-in strike to President Mubarak's residence. There, they will wait his return from his medical treatment in Germany, in hopes that he will personally intervene to solve their problems and provide them with a respectable life for them and their families. The workers criticized the government for its interest in football players and the efforts the government exerted at the highest levels to help the players overcome obstacles and celebrate the team's victory.
