For the first time ever, Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif is putting on a shirt and a pair of shorts today to play a football match and a volleyball match in the framework of the first Sports' Day in Egypt. The matches are being held at the Smart Village, in 6th of October City. TV stations are rushing to record the event. Nazif is due to play part of the football match before playing volleyball. The head of the National Sports Council (NSP), Hassan Saqr, is playing in Nazif's team along with some ministers, such as Mahmoud Mohieldin, Rachid Mohamed Rachid and Youssef Boutros Ghali. By doing so, the Prime Minister aims to encourage the Egyptians to practice different kinds of sport. Education Minister Yousry el-Gamal and the Minister of Higher Education and the State for Scientific Research, Hany Helal, have instructed that March 3 be a sports' day in all schools and universities and that pupils and university students take part in different sporting activities. Field Marshal Mohamed Sayed Tantawi, Ministry of Defense and Military Production, agreed to open all Armed Forces' popular areas to the masses for free so that they may practice different kinds of sport. Some ministers and officials, such as Hany Helal, Yousri el-Gamal, Hassan Saqr and Giza Governor Sayed Abdel Aziz are taking part in sport activities all day long. Dressed in sports clothes, they are visiting al-Saadiya School, Cairo University and finally the Tersana Sporting Club.
