In a new series of corruption in the Ministry of Endowments, an employee in the ministry has filed a report to a sovereign body to investigate the issue of annexing non-existent mosques to the ministry, and violations made by officials in Port Said Endowments Directorate. The report, of which Al-Masry Al-Youm got a copy, said: "I call on you to intervene and investigate five violations in annexing unlicensed mosques to the ministry and appointing new employees by the Ministry's Undersecretary in Port Said Mahmoud Badran, who collected donations from the merchants and kept them to himself."
The Administrative Control Authority, the Public Prosecution and the committee formed by the ministry have investigated the violations, the employee said, accusing the ministry of colluding with Badran, as it ignored bringing him to account although he was referred to a disciplinary committee twice.
The Public Prosecutor received the first call to investigate the irregularities in annexing the mosques after the information was printed in Al-Masry Al-Youm. The report said that the head of the committee on the annexation of mosques Ali Abdel Latif refused to refer the memo on the irregularities to the minister for 87 days. The ministry ordered that the committee be referred to investigation. However, there has been no investigation so far.
