Egypt's National Democratic Party (NDP) Policies Secretary Gamal Mubarak said "the Palestinian Cause will be in our blood until the land is liberated. We're in favor of the resistance against the occupation and we don't need anyone telling us what to do." Speaking at a conference held by the NDP Secretariat yesterday in Cairo, he said Egypt has no ambitions in Palestine, Sudan or any other country. "Those countries which criticized Egypt's role and objected to its initiative, what did they do to stop the war on Gaza?" he asked himself. Mr. Gamal Mubarak slammed some intellectuals and media pundits, saying they objected to Egypt's role once they showed up on TV screens. He also accused some TV channels of trying to incite the Egyptian people against their government by spreading false information. He added that the Arab World's strength stems from Egypt and made it clear that the Egyptian initiative announced by President Mubarak had been fully implemented in spite of all the objections it had faced. NDP Assistant Secretary General Zakaria Azmi slammed Hezbollah and Syria. "Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah fired rockets at Israel but then said 'it wasn't me'. As for the other (in a reference to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad), he could have liberated his country, but instead Damascus has not fired a single bullet for the last 40 years. Instead, it has preferred to speculate on Egypt." Mr. Azmi said Egypt was eager to protect its borders and would not accept any foreign forces on its territories. Finally, he expressed Egypt's support for Palestine. The conference, which was attended by Cairo Governor Abdel Azim Wazir and several NDP leading figures, started with the hoisting of the flag, the mourning for the victims in Gaza, and the compliments to President Mubarak for the Egyptian initiative to end the Israeli aggression.
