Opposition parties and political forces called for expelling the Israeli ambassador to Cairo, withdrawing his Egyptian counterpart and freezing the Arab Initiative in response to the genocide committed by the Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip. MP Hamdin Sabbahi, Undersecretary of Karama Party, called for Egyptians' demands to be met with regard to the Israeli attacks on Gaza, namely opening the border crossings, expelling the Israeli ambassador, withdrawing the Egyptian Ambassador from Tel Aviv, stopping the export of gas to Israel and freezing the Camp David Accords. This came during a meeting attended by representatives of political forces and national action figures at Tagammu Party's headquarters. Mr. Sabbahi called on different national forces to announce their disagreement with President Mubarak, who said that Rafah crossing would not be opened without the presence of representatives of the European Union and the Palestinian National Authority.
Sabbahi called on national forces to stop attacking Hamas because this would be in the interest of the enemy rather than the resistance, as he put it.
Commenting on Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah's calling on the Egyptian people to take to the street, Sabbahi said: "Despite my respect to Nasrallah, the Egyptians have taken to the street since the beginning of the military operation and not in response to his demands".
He called on national forces and parties to organize a demonstration to besiege the Israeli embassy in Cairo as was the case in the Gaza Strip.
Tagammu Chairman Refaat al-Saeed said the stances of those who chanted slogans such as "no one denies the Egyptian role in the Palestinian issue" are weak, calling for freezing the Camp David Accords or at least withdrawing the Egyptian Ambassador from Israel.
