Safaga Port has prepared a quay for receiving the "Cairo" and "Riyadh" ferries, Minister of Transport Mohamed Mansour said yesterday in a press release. The two ferries will travel from Safaga port to Saudi Duba Port – the route they will travel in – as a test to know the cost of every voyage in accordance with the safe management code, which will be applied firmly on the two ferries or any new ferry that would join the National Navigation Company.
The company would start advertising bookings to both ferries immediately after finishing the technical equipment in Safaga Port. The reservation will be electronically between the operator, the agent and the port management to avoid any manipulations, the minister said.
On the other hand, the National Navigation Company called on the management of Safaga Port to provide the two ferries with first-class fuel and clean water lest their engines, at a value of $180 million, would be destroyed due to bad fuel and water.
