A group of hackers broke into four Sufi websites, two of which are affiliated to the Supreme Council of Sufi Orders. Some unknown hackers managed to penetrate a website last Friday evening. They deleted all data and then started to break into other websites throughout the week. The manager of "Islamwatan" website Essam Mohei told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the affected websites took part in an electronic campaign against Sheikh Youssef Al-Qaradawi due to his latest statements on the Shiites and his accusations at "Sufism" of being the source of Shiism in Egypt. In addition, these websites promoted a public conference by the "Sufis to reply to Al-Qaradawi". The conference called on Al-Qaradawi to leave his post as chairman of the International Union for Muslim Scholars or to apologize to the Sufis and not foment sectarian sedition between Sunnites and Shiites. Mohei attacked the Wahabi [Sunni Islam attributed to Muhammad ibn Abd-al-Wahhab, an 18th century scholar from what is today known as Saudi Arabia] hackers who have recently attacked Shiite websites to show support to Al-Qaradawi. "The Wahabis did not accept our electronic response to Al-Qaradawi's statements and our defending Sufism that contravenes Shiism, so they used their skills as hackers" Mohei added.
