Swine flu continued its spread yesterday forcing the closure of three schools and two classes after new infections were discovered. Cairo governor Abdel Azeem Wazir ordered the closure of el-Gamalia primary school and Ramsis College for 15 days after a confirmed swine flu infection was discovered in each, said Abdel Fattah Gado, deputy head of the Education Directorate. Two classrooms were also shuttered yesterday; one at Assalam College in Zaitoun after a third-year primary student had been infected, and another at Bab el-Sharea School, due to infection of a student in the third preparatory year, according to Gado. In Gharbiya Governorate, the Mohamed el-Kholi Primary School in Tanta was temporarily shut down for two hours after second-year primary student was confirmed to have the virus. The cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center denied that the Ministry of Education plans to order two-week closure of schools at the beginning of November as a way to slow the spread of the virus. "All reports to this effect are just rumors and totally untrue. Study proceeds well nationwide and the average attendance has hit 90 per cent," the center said in a statement. The Ministry of Health announced 15 new cases of swine flu infection including nine students. There have been 1193 infections in Egypt to date and three deaths from the virus.
