Katatny to brief Brotherhood leaders on meeting with ElBaradei
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 18 - 02 - 2013

Saad al-Katatny, the president of the Freedom and Justice Party, will meet with leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood at the residence of Khairat al-Shater, the deputy supreme guide, on Tuesday to brief them on his meeting with Mohamed ElBaradei, the president of the Dostour Party, and Al-Sayed al-Badawy, president of the Wafd Party, informed sources said Monday.
The sources, who asked for anonymity, also said Katatny met with President Mohamed Morsy, briefed him of the meeting, and agreed with him not to replace Prime Minister Hisham Qandil.
Katatny told Shater that the National Salvation Front requested the postponement of the parliamentary elections and the formation of a national salvation government, which Shater objected to.
Meanwhile, the Popular Current, led by Hamdeen Sabbahi, denounced the meeting of Katatny and ElBaradei.
“We are thinking of withdrawing from the front and forming another one that we would call the National Egyptian Revolutionary Front,” said Gamal Zahran of the Popular Current.
Mohamed Aboul Ghar, president of the Egyptian Democratic Party, said the front would meet on Tuesday with ElBaradei and Badawy to be briefed of the outcome their meeting, pointing out that they did not speak in the name of the front, nor take individual decisions.
Katatny said in a Facebook statement on Sunday that he discussed the political stalemate with ElBaradei and Badawy but did not tackle the Nour Party's initiative, in which President Mohamed Morsy and the opposition form a national consensus government.
Nader Bakkar, the assistant to the Nour Party chief for media affairs, criticized Katatny Sunday for not discussing the Nour Party initiative to resolve Egypt's ongoing political stalemate during the meeting.
An FJP statement contradicting Katatny's statements said the same day that the FJP President told Badawy and Baradei that changing the Cabinet could cause instability domestically and abroad.
