Mubarak Attends 60th Graduation from Naval College; Students Demonstrate Improved Training

President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, yesterday attended the 60th graduation ceremony of the Naval College, named after Field Marshal Mohamed Saad Ma'moun, the commander of the Second Field Army in the glorious October War.
The celebration started with the students saluting President Hosni Mubarak, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. They made a parade with flags, Morse code signals, marine whistles and optical flares of naval units. The flags formed the phrase: Welcome Mr. President.
Then speedboats approached from the sea, flying the flag of the armed forces, followed by the flags of the main branches of the armed forces. Also lined were the naval units that represent the various branches of the navy.
Then a demonstration of the various formations and units of the Navy started, whereby the students made a demonstration for combating terrorism at sea, as well as a demonstration of how to save a ship exposed to the risks of fire and drowning.
This was followed by a military parade of symbolic groups representing the different grades of the Naval College.
Then the Deputy Director of the Naval College announced the final result of the examination of the students of the 60th class that is named after Field Marshal Mohamed Saad Ma'moun.
Then Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, endorsed the examination results of the 60th class, granting them a Bachelor Degree in Navy Science, with a success ratio of the final exam of 99%.
In his speech, the director of the Naval College said the graduates were trained at the highest scientific, military and naval level, as well as the highest military discipline, pointing out that the Naval College has been developed and updated to keep pace with other naval colleges of the world, in terms of curricula, training and modern education methods, with an emphasis on practical exercises within combat formations at sea, so as to teach the students the skill and art of fighting.
The ceremony was attended by Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, the Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Fathi Sorour, Speaker of the People's Assembly, Dr. Zakaria Azmi, the Presidential Chief of Staff, as well as a number of senior statesmen and armed forces officials.
