The quarantine authorities of Hurghada International Airport have isolated Jean Robert, a 23-year-old French tourist, on suspicion of swine flu. Dr. Hossam Abdo, Director of Hurghada General Hospital, said that the tourist was isolated in the Hotel Isolation Ward of the hospital, that he is in a stable condition and that his samples were sent for analysis to the Central Laboratories of the Health Ministry. Also, the Menya Fever Hospital has isolated Mustafa Sayed Mustafa, 29, on suspicion of being infected with the disease. He had arrived from Kuwait on June 26 with a severe rise in temperature, a running nose and a sore throat, which made the hospital decide to isolate him.
With regard to avian flu, the Menya Fever Hospital also isolated five suspected cases of the disease, including three from the same family in the Menya Fever Hospital. They are: Ramadan Mohamed Ismail, 48, his daughters Habiba, 4, and Farha, 9, and Othman Khalaf Abdel Salam, 26, and Sahar Mohamed Hassan, 27. In Beheira, the Damanhour Fever Hospital isolated two suspected cases. They are: Hanin Hussein Abdel Latif (18 months old) and Ahmed Mohamed Youssef Ibrahim, 24. In Alexandria, 44 shops were found selling birds without a license. 3259 birds were killed, and 32 bird traders referred to the prosecution for breaking the wax seals of their shops. In Menoufia, a driver of a truck was arrested for carrying 39 live ducks. Police Protocol No. 3788 was issued in Bagour, and the prosecution ordered the execution of the seizures in the graveyard of Bagour.
In Aswan, Governor Mustafa el-Sayed decided to tighten procedures to address the risk of the spread of epidemics and infectious summer diseases. He formed a committee headed by Dr. Hussein Tahtawi, Director of the Technical Office of the Governor, with the directors of the health, supply and environment directories as members, to review all health and environment requirements for shops, bakeries, markets, restaurants and all food stores.
