The quarantine authorities at Cairo airport yesterday evening isolated the first American girl and her mother on suspicion of swine flu after it was discovered she suffered from a high temperature when arriving from New York. Dr. Hassan Shaaban, Director of quarantine at Cairo airport reported that the girl and her mother were transported by ambulance to the Abbasiya Hospital for further analysis.
He added the expansion of the scope to include 53 countries which are identified by the World Health Organization after the emergence of the disease.
In the same vein, an Australian tourist threatened to throw himself from the window of a hospital room in Fevers Aswan in protest at being detained on suspicion of swine flu. The tourist, David Georger, 62, had a very high temperature and a cold. The boat authorities informed the company headquarters in Cairo, which in turn informed the concerned authorities. He was transferred to the fever hospital in Aswan where samples were taken and sent to the central laboratory. The results appeared yesterday morning and were proven to be negative. In Qaliubiya, Governor Adly Hussein, alerted the High Commission to oversee the Hajj season of 2009 and to take all maintenance procedures and preventative measures against the swine flu virus. He stressed the importance of providing pilgrims with a medical bag containing a mask and a quantity of soap and disinfectant, as well as the preservation of the gift given by the governorate of ritual clothing and handbag, along with some educational pamphlets on public health and the rites of Hajj. He initiated the first meeting of the Committee to prepare a memorandum to the Minister of Solidarity, Dr. Ali Almeselhy, wanting to negotiate the differentials pilgrimage last year by a thousand pounds for a single pilgrim.
He allocated 568 pilgrimage opportunities, including 98 for economic opportunity, with the allocation ratio of 10% to new associations that are two years old.
