Cairo - Egypt received three Dassault Aviation-built Rafale fighter jets from France on Thursday, the second batch of the jets to be dispatched as part of a deal signed last year (2016). The two-warplane batch makes the sum of Rafale that Egypt has received so far from France nine jet fighters, in a deal that is worth €5.2 billion. In February 2015, France and Egypt have signed the deal whereby the former agreed to deliver about 24 Rafale fighters to Egypt amid the framework of the Egyptian-French armament cooperation.
The French company Dassault Aviation, the manufacturer of the Rafale fighters, disclosed in March in a press conference its plan for financial year 2017/2018, which includes handing Egypt eight Rafale fighters this year.
