Abu Dhabi- Secretary-General of the Arab Writers Union and Emirati poet, Habib Al-Sayegh, sent a letter to the Ministers of Information and Arab cinema censorship officials calling on them to ban the screening of the Hollywood film "Wonder Woman," starring Israeli actress, Gal Gadot. Gal Gadot is a former soldier for the Israeli army, who carried out two years of service as an enlisted soldier, serving as a combat trainer. In 2014, she posted a picture on Facebook, declaring her support for the Israeli military. Although Gadot received backlash for her post, she was still cast as 'Wonder Woman', a character who symbolizes female empowerment and femininity in the world of superheros. Gadot has been open about serving in and supporting the Israeli military, yet many women choose to ignore that. They still see Gadot as an inspiring and empowering woman playing an equally empowering character. They have chosen to ignore the fact that Gadot supports the atrocious war crimes committed against innocent Palestinian civilians.
