Egypt's historical Sayeda Zeinab mosque witnessed the celebration of Sufi groups of the night of Mid Shaaban. The celebration was attended by leading figures in the world of Sufism in addition to Dr. Abdel Hady El Kasabi, a prominent spirtual leader of Sufi movement in Egypt. (Sha‘bān) is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. Bara'at Night or Mid-Sha'ban is a holiday observed by various Muslim communities on the night between 14 and 15 Sha'ban. During the celebration Dr. Osama El Azhary together with Dr. Mahmoud Sherief and Sheikh Abdel Hady El Kasabi stated that throughout the years, the Sufism movement with its moderate approach has been protecting Egypt against radicalism and terrorism and has worked extensively to prevent the spread of extremism in the state. Meanwhile, following the Gomaa prayers today in Kafr El Sheikh, the President of the World Federation for Sufism Dr. Alaa El Din Madi Aboul Azayim assured that a vicious war is being waged against Egypt. He called for all Sufism followers to support President Al Sisi till the end. The President of the World Federation also said that President Sisi cannot be held responsible for the recent increase in prices, but rather the parliament with all its capitalist policies. In addition, the Ministry of Supply should apply more stringent measures to regulate prices by increasing their inspectors of the market and maximizing supervision. Historically, Muslims have used the Arabic word taṣawwuf to identify the practice of Sufis. Mainstream scholars of Islam define Tasawwuf or Sufism as the name for the inner or esoteric dimension of Islam which is supported and complemented by outward or exoteric practices of Islam, such as Sharia.
