Addis Ababa - African Union Commission chief Moussa Faki Mahamat strongly condemned terrorist attacks that occurred in Sinai, London , and Maiduguri in the past couple of days. The chairperson profoundly regretted the loss of lives in these attacks and the injuries inflicted upon many others. He expressed the AU's solidarity with the peoples and governments of Egypt , the UK and Nigeria , the African Union said in a released statement. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished those injured speedy recovery. He regretted the killing of Egyptian soldiers, on Thursday in bombings during military operations against terrorist hideouts in Sinai. Mahamat was also appalled by the terrorist attacks that took place in the early hours of March 22 at a camp of internally displaced people in Maiduguri , north-eastern Nigeria, which killed several people and injured many others. The chairperson was also deeply shocked by the terrorist attack that took place on March 22, near the UK Parliament in London , in which several persons were killed and injured. He noted that these attacks prove the seriousness of the threat that terrorism continued to pose to global peace and security. He reiterated the AU's strong rejection of terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and called for renewed collective action to combat these threats.
