Cairo – An informed source revealed that in early hours Sunday morning in Doha, the capital of Qatar, Qatari government held a top-secret meeting with some leaders from Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and some Turkish intelligence officials in order to discuss "a swift move to escalate against Ismail Haniyah", deputy head of Hamas's political bureau. It is against the background of Haniyah's and a Hamas delegation's surprise visit to Egypt to meet Egyptian officials, which Qatar and MB considered an ‘unforgivable betrayal'. The source have also revealed exclusively for Albawaba News Portal that the Muslim Brotherhood leaders were also alarmed by the prospect of restoring Egypt-Hamas ties that would lead to extraditing them to Egyptian security, and disclosing their hideouts. The source added that as a result MB is contacting its members inside and outside Egypt to take strict precautionary measure such as breaking off any relation with Hamas, and immediately disposing of any information, comprised by Hamas, about members' locations and media of communication. It has been reported that Brotherhood leaders admitted at their meeting that the visit was "such a slap in face," as they are about to lose a very important ally, i.e. Hamas. Egyptian security officials said that Haniyah arrived late Sunday, which is deemed the highest-level visit by Hamas's top official since the ouster of Mohamed Morsi from presidency after mass demosnstrations in 2013. Hamas officials also confirmed the visit. Sources have also revealed that the meeting focused on discussing Egypt's national security, the relations between Hamas and the Egyptian intelligence officials, specifically the security situation in Sinai-Gaza border, aiming to curb any influx or infiltration of extremists from or to Egypt.
