Cairo - Egypt's President Abd El Fattah El Sisi has directed State security agencies to take all necessary measures to secure the land and sea borders of the country. The president's remarks were made during a meeting of the National Defense Council which was attended by the House Speaker, the ministers of defense, military production, foreign affairs and interior, and the head of the intelligence service and high ranking commanders of the Armed Forces During the meeting, the president also urged highest level of preparedness and vigilance to secure vital places and facilities. The meeting reviewed the latest security developments on the domestic arena, current anti-terrorism efforts in Sinai along with following up the progress of the military operations in this regards, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said. The meeting tackled the latest developments on both the regional and international arenas and global efforts to hummer out solutions to the region's current crises. Measures adopted by State apparatuses to tighten control over borders and crossings in light of regional security challenges and growing terrorism threats in the Middle Eats were also discussed during the meeting. The National Defense Council agreed Sunday to extend the participation of Egyptian troops in a combat mission in the Arab Gulf region, the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb. The mission is meant to defend the Egyptian and Arab national security.
