Cairo - Egypt's President 'Abdel Fattah El Sisi' met with Finance Minister 'Amr el-Garhy' to evaluate the financial performance in the first half of the fiscal year 2016/2017, and the most important economic indicators affecting the performance. Presidential Spokesman 'Alaa Youssef' said Sisi urged the minister to provide the necessary funds for the needs of the various sectors, particularly with regard to social protection programs and supply commodities. The president also issued directives to continue implementing the plan for improving the performance of the Ministry of Finance in an effort to upgrade services provided to citizens, the spokesman added. The minister presented a report on the developments of the economic situation and reforms of the fiscal policies, procedures and programs carried out by the ministry over the past year within the government's program to stimulate the economy. Garhy said economic reforms taken by the government over the past months have had a positive impact on the international reputation of the Egyptian economy, which has seen a marked improvement. Most of the international rating institutions praised the measures taken by the government, and have already modified their assessment of the Egyptian economy and their future expectations for investment in Egypt from negative to positive, he added.
