Cypriot parliament speaker, Yiannakis Omirou will visit Sunday Cairo, at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart, Ali Abdel Aal, Al Bawaba News reported. The embassy of Cyprus in Cairo said in a statement that Omirou is considered to be the first parliament speaker from the European Union to visit Egypt after the election and formation of the new parliament. Both sides are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, during his visit to Egypt, the statement read. Omirou will also meet with Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail and minister of foreign affairs, Sameh Shoukry, according to the statement. He will meet with members of the Cypriot community in Egypt and visit a number of historical and cultural sites besides a press conference with representatives of the Egyptian press, the statement added.
