Military Investigative Judge Fadi Sawwan issued six indictments against 16 suspected ISIS and Nusra Front members Thursday over a variety of charges. Those charged include four Lebanese citizens and 12 Syrian nationals, some of whom are on the run. Sawwan indicted them for belonging to the extremist groups, murder and attempted murder of Lebanese Army soldiers. Charges also include kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, preparing attacks in the country and stealing military arms and ammunition. The suspects allegedly carried out the crimes in either the northeastern border town of Arsal or the northern border district of Akkar, where many arrests of suspected militants take place. Militants from the two extremist groups have a presence on the rugged outskirts of Arsal. The Lebanese military has pounded their hideouts for over a year to keep them at bay, sometimes engaging in clashes with them. Separately Thursday, one Lebanese soldier was killed and three others wounded in a roadside bomb attack on their convoy near Arsal. It was unclear who was behind the attack.
