In implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has sent 40 trucks loaded with more than 1,000 tonnes of food aid to be distributed among the Somali people from Berbera Port. A spokesperson for the Khalifa Foundation said that the move follows the directives of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates to help the Somali people and alleviate their suffering. The spokesman added that a team from the organisation, in coordination with officials in Berbera city, will oversee the distribution of food supplies to families in various provinces, including Burao, Sool and others affected by the drought that struck most regions in Somalia. The aid included 8,000 food parcels, each contain food materials such as rice, sugar, flour, dates, and milk powder, which will assist recipients to endure the hardships caused by the drought that has plagued their land and harmed farms and livestock.
